The Paul Flynn trained Liberty's Gift was another big priced winner at Ballinrobe this evening, as he took the Treacy's Pharmacies Handicap Chase in convincing fashion.
Successful on the level at Wexford last summer, the versatile son of Statue Of Liberty was sent off a 20/1 chance this evening having finished down the field on his last four starts.
Having tracked the leader in the second, he improved to the front after they bypassed three out.
He went a few lengths clear on the approach to the last and increased his advantage on the run-in, going on to score by seven lengths under Eamonn Corbett for the Have Another Syndicate. King Blue finished second at 9/2 under Jack Kennedy for Ross O'Sullivan, while Treat Yourself (12/1) was four and a quarter lengths back in third under Davy Russell for Arthur Moore. Draycott Place (12/1) completed the placings a half a length back in fourth, while the 7/2 favourite (from 9/2) Westerner Point could only manage a disappointing seventh under Phillip Enright for Eoghan O'Grady.
Paul Flynn said afterwards: "He'd been working so well but he was such a big price you'd be put off having a bet.
"We'll keep him chasing this year and if he's in good form he might go to Killarney.
"He'll stay to flat tracks. It's more likely that he could come back here at the end of the month for a nice handicap."
