Danny Mullins has been the jump jockey to follow since Wexford switched to racing left-handed, and his fellow County Kilkenny man Shane Foley stole the show on the initial day of Flat anti-clockwise action as he brought up a double in the finale aboard High Kicker
Graignamanagh man Foley, teamed up with John Murphy to take the first with For Goodness Sake and in the Ballaghkeen Handicap he got his chance when first reserve High Kicker got her chance in the mile seven contest.
Reappearing quickly after a strong finishing fifth placing at Ballinrobe on Monday evening, the in-foal High Kicker went off a 5/4 shot (from 2/1) to add to earlier Leopardstown gains.
Foley got High Kicker to the front in the final quarter mile and she went on for a two and a half length win over Magnetic Force
"She did it well in fairness to her. She won at Leopardstown and she might have been just a shade unlucky at Ballinrobe," suggested Foley on Peter Fahey's winner.
"She done the job well there and it was a nice bit of placing by Peter in fairness to him. She's in-foal and she has until the end of September so maybe she will go to Galway at the end of the week for that two mile handicap."
The Stewards interviewed J.W. Kennedy, rider of Moon Dice concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.W. Kennedy was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and consequently suspended him for 1 raceday. Paul W. Flynn, trainer of Moon Dice, accompanied J.W. Kennedy at this enquiry.
