Flynn keeps good run going with Plunkett Plunkett kept up a good run for Paul Flynn when running out a convincing winner of the Paulstown Handicap at Gowran. The Gleneagles gelding was making his return to action this afternoon and went to post a 9/2 shot in the mile contest. Billy Lee, recording a double on the card, produced his mount on the outer in the straight as he swooped to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home. Plunkett galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-three-quarter length win over Take My Hand. Flynn was saddling his third winner of the season and had struck last night at Dundalk with Little Queenie, ridden by his daughter Ciara. He said afterwards:- “He had a bad back last year and it’s all thanks to Paul Houlihan. He had kissing spines and Paul did a lot of work on him. “It made some difference at home and we were confident. “He’s in again on Saturday over seven (at Cork) but he won’t run.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
