Trainer Gordon Elliott’s stable second-string Find A Fortune (4s to 100/30) landed Fairyhouse’s Easter Festival April 19th - 21st Rated Novice Hurdle today on his reappearance run, scoring under jockey Danny Gilligan.

The maiden eight-year-old had been placed on each of his previous five runs, all in maiden hurdles, and while absent since May 27, today defied that layoff when producing a battling 2.5 lengths success over Palamon with the winner’s shorter-priced stablemate Heroes Rise (11/10f) finishing third.

Trainer Elliott reported “we thought Find A Fortune would need the run to be honest and only stuck him in at 9.55am because the race was cutting up.

“Walking around the ring, he looked big enough for one of ours but it’s great for Aidan (Ryan, owner) who is a big supporter of the yard so it’s nice to get him a winner. He’ll go chasing at some stage, we’ll keep him going as he’ll handle better ground.

“Heroes Rise wants better ground - he ran well the last day at Thurles but we were worried about the ground for him today.”
