Gua Du Large came with a well-timed challenge under Rachael Blackmore to land the concluding rated novice chase at Tramore today for trainer Henry de Bromhead, at his local track. Dutch Schultz moved through to take a narrow lead going to the second last in the race, run over just shy of two miles, but was quickly tackled by the Robcour-owned gelding.
The 5/2 shot had a narrow lead over the last and kept on well in the closing stages to record a three-parts-of-a-length success.
It was a first success over fences for the Kapgarde gelding, who had fallen on his last outing at Fairyhouse three weeks ago.
De Bromhead said: "The better ground definitely helped him and Rachael was great on him.
“He was a bit unlucky in Fairyhouse but it's nice to get him back winning here. He jumped well today and I have no immediate plan for him. Hopefully he'll just keep progressing now."
