Happy Company got off the mark at the tenth attempt when claiming the concluding race at Navan, the second division of the Gormanlough Handicap.
Daniel Redmond produced the 8/1 shot to lead over two furlongs out in the ten furlong contest and he galloped on strongly in the closing stages to score by a length-and-a-quarter as Snap Click ran on into second.
It was a first Flat winner for trainer Clare trainer Paddy Hassett.
Liam McAteer, who heads up the winning Parkview Bloodstick Syndicate said:- “There are a few of us in the syndicate and that is the first winner Paddy, who is a vet in Quin Co. Clare, has trained on the Flat.
“His son Garrett, who is married to my daughter Pamela, rides him out all the time and deserves a lot of credit.
“I bought him as a foal to sell as a yearling and then couldn’t sell him. He’s given us a lot of fun, and we have a group of American friends with us today which is great.
“He’ll probably go next for a similar handicap at Galway.”
Liam McAteer used to train in Co Louth and heads up the syndicate with his wife Bernie.
