Circles runs rings around her rivals Circles continued a good recent run for trainer Anthony McCann under both codes when taking the Saturday 12th July Ladies Day At Dundalk Handicap in decisive fashion. The Rita Shah-owned daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was recording her fourth career win, all of which have been gained over seven furlongs. The 7/1 shot made headway travelling well on the outer under Luke McAteer to lead early in the final furlong and kept on well for a comfortable length and a half verdict. Macadam’s Rock took the runner-up spot with Hemight just a head further away in third. McCann was on leading up duties and McAteer said, "She did it well and travelled well everywhere. Anthony was confident, in fairness. "I haven't ridden her in a while, I rode her before Christmas and that. I always kind of came up short on her when I did ride her, but I was fairly confident for a long way today that she was very well in. "Sometimes with these fillies, when they click, they click. There might be a bit of fine tuning and that. "It is always nice to get a winner for Anthony who has been a good supporter of mine through the years, so it is nice to keep that partnership going." McAteer also partners Whimsy for the same connections at the Curragh tomorrow and added, “Her hurdle form is very good and her form in England last year was good. Hopefully, she might click as well."
