The first division of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Handicap produced a good tussle between 16/1 chance Turf Range and No Trouble (10/3) with the former just prevailing by a short head.

Both protagonists came from off the pace and they drew clear of the remainder in the final furlong. There was contact between the pair close home where it appeared Turf Range edged left and slightly hampered the runner-up but no alteration to the placings was made following a stewards enquiry.

Wayne Lordan was on board the winner who was having his first run since scoring, under the same pilot, over ten furlongs here last November.

Winning trainer David Broad said: “He won up here last year and then got injured. We brought him back, he loves Dundalk, and thought he might need the run so he'll improve a little bit for that.

“He'll crack away up here for the winter and he's owned by great people.”
