Blue Peak strikes for Grassick & Sheehy Blue Peak (16/1) was a first winner of the season for trainer Michael Grassick and jockey Danny Sheehy when landing the second division of the apprentice handicap. Running in her third handicap, the daughter of Fascinating Rock raced in mid-division and Sheehy was able to find ample racing room for her towards the inside approaching the final furlong. The four-year-old picked up well and soon hit the front before staying on well to win by two and a half a lengths from Atbay. “She's just been slow to come and I think the penny is just dropping with her,” said Grassick. “I liked her run in Cork, she was very unbalanced getting around and then she really came home strong, in another 50 yards she would have been placed. I like the way she finished out her race. “I wanted to keep to a mile but when you are in this grade you are getting balloted out and it's so hard. “They got a drop of rain here and she needs a little bit of juice in the ground. "Hopefully there is another race or two in her. She's down low enough that she could stay in that bracket for another couple of runs. “That's my first winner for William Keeling, who is Joe's son. It's important to get a winner for the family.” Quotes from Gary Carson
