Abstraction won an eventful five-furlong handicap as racing returned to Dundalk for the winter series.

The gambled-on Jungle Jane was battling away at the head of affairs with Enough Said inside the final furlong but she veered across the track to the stands' side rail to ruin any chance she had.

As this happened, Fridtjof Nansen took over from Enough Said and went for home but Abstraction thundered home down the centre of the track to get up by a neck at 16/1.

Fridtjof Nansen (5/1 joint favourite) had to settle for second, a neck in front of the other 5/1 joint favourite Annabelle Rock

Trainer Natalia Lupini said: "He's been in good form at home since he won in Down Royal.

“Paddy (Harnett) gave him a brilliant ride. The 10lb (claim) was obviously a positive.

“If he comes home safe and sound, and he's okay in the morning, I'd say we'll keep him racing here. He seems to love the surface.”
