It's job done, I suppose. He was entitled to win that, it was the ideal race for him. We'll maybe look for a staying handicap now. I'm so thankful for these races, where would I be going with a soft ground horse in the middle of the winter without these races? I would have been lost, wasting my time out the back somewhere and then you are struggling in handicaps. There is a great gang involved (Fauda Partnership) and they really enjoyed that. Paul McGinley's brother Mick has a leg and his dad is involved as well. There is a staying novice handicap in Navan before Cheltenham if the ground was still heavy. He's not a quick horse. Hopefully he can be competitive again, but that's job done for the year. His jumping is very good and for a big horse he is very clever. He needed to win that today as that was his Gold Cup. Old Soul jumped absolutely beautifully. He's not a hurdler and he's not quick and the longer you stay over hurdles the more you sour these horses. D.F. O'Regan, rider of Simply Shabra, trained by Anthony McCann, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got carried out

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the approach to the fourth last fence involving Round The Buoy (GB), ridden by R.T. Dunne, pulled up, and Simply Shabra, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, carried out (as reported by the rider). Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.F. O'Regan stated that his mount was brought to a standstill when impeded by a faller earlier in the race and was out of contention from that point but on the approach to the fourth last fence he wanted to continue in the race with a view to completing it when Round The Buoy (GB) pulled up suddenly and carried out his own mount by the side of the fence. R.T. Dunne stated that his mount stopped very quickly and was pulled up without him realising that there was any horse behind him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to advise R.T. Dunne to ride with more awareness in a similar circumstance in the future

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Speed Gang, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the last fence on the first circuit and jumped left throughout thereafter

David Peter Dunne, trainer of Round The Buoy (GB), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was found to have slight blood and mucus on endoscopic examination post race.
