I was worried about the pace of the race on the better ground, he was only just hanging in there the whole time – he was flat out. He’s a very good horse. Going down to the second-last, I thought we had a good chance. What can you say? It’s brilliant, I’m just thrilled. Great thanks to JP and Noreen for having the confidence to supplement him. It’s brilliant, they’re so good to train for. They’re brilliant people.

Cheltenham Wed, 12th Mar, 2025  Stumptown I was very concerned for a while to be honest, but he’s run out a good winner in the end. I think Keith thought he wasn’t at his best either, but we’ll take it. He obviously loves the cross-country racing and Keith is definitely worth a few pounds around that track, that’s for sure. We’ll aim him at the Grand National. It is coming soon enough, but all being well, he’ll go there. It is tight, but the race today was on nice ground and there’s a lot of twisting and turning. I don’t know if it takes as much out of them as a traditional handicap chase where it’s end-to-end stuff.

Leopardstown Sun, 2nd Mar, 2025  Serienmond They went a good gallop which helped him settle. He’s been very keen at home since he came to us, and we’ve been working hard on just trying to get him to do things right. He jumped well and did everything right. It wasn’t a great race on paper and hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on him.

Punchestown Thu, 20th Feb, 2025  Springt De La Mare He jumped really well and it was a good performance. I was just saying to Keith there that we couldn’t win a maiden hurdle with him, but he’s taken to this better. He jumps really well and got through that ground well. He won his bumper and looked like he was going to be very smart, but he just lost his way a little bit in the middle part of his career. Hopefully, we’re back on track. The handicapper will have a bit of a say with that. He doesn’t qualify for some of the bigger handicaps yet, with only two runs, so I’m not really sure where we go now. This was the only race for him and it’s very hard to place those horses.
