Another upset as March On Rome scores
March On Rome caused the second upset in as many races as he ran out a comfortable winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for trainer John Murphy and jockey Ben Curtis at the odds of 16/1.
The winning son of Elnadim, who was also making his debut here (just as the last winner Roman Flight , was one of several horses in with a chance a furlong from home, but he stayed on better than any of his rivals as he raced clear to score by two lengths at the line from the 11/8fav Prophesy back in second.
Ben Curtis who rode the colt to victory was enjoying his fourth winner in the past week, after he recorded a double at Roscommon on Sunday and followed that up last night at Leopardstown when winning on Barack.
Winning trainer John Murphy, who was recording his first winner since April 15th, said afterwards: "I needed that! He is a nice horse and he will be better on better ground. He showed a good turn of foot and he is a genuine type.
"He will go for a conditions race now and may drop back to six furlongs."
