I was a little bit surprised and thought he would find it hard to turn around the form with Gavin’s horse (Nisior Donn). He can be a tricky so and so but Ben gave him a super ride. He came out of the race well on Saturday. He’s tough and he came off the grass really well and the ground was lovely. Hopefully he will come off this as well as the grass. He’s rated a lot lower on the grass so we’ll probably go back to that and see how we get on.

He keeps a bit for himself and the quicker they go the better. Six furlongs is ideal for him when they go quick as he can travel into it. When he gets to the front he waits for the others. He can go from six furlongs to a mile but they just don’t go quick enough for him over a mile. He’ll run all over the winter. The handicapper can’t be too hard on him, and when he tells us he’s fresh again we’ll keep him going. David Spratt set up Gaelic Thoroughbreds and there is a syndicate with three two-year-olds and three older horses. Joe Bracken and Joe Horan both from Clane are here today and they are involved in the syndicate. They are getting great sport out of it and they used to own Joe Eile. This year they have bought three new yearlings to go to war with and a couple of older horses as well. It’s an initiative that has really progressed this year and the yearlings we bought are quite expensive.

He had to come here to win his maiden but he's a horse with plenty of ability,. Colin is a very strong jockey but equally he's a very brainy jockey. He said going out 'if I hit this horse once he'll curl up'. He had the confidence to ride hands and heels and that was the winning of the race. He's the kind of horse that if you hit him once he would be beaten a short-head rather than win a short-head. We have a good record around Laytown, love it, and for horses like this it revitalises them. It's great for the syndicate. If that lad put it in like he does at home he'd have a few more under the belt. Hopefully this gives him confidence and he can move on from there. On a slow five on the Curragh he ran a cracker and that's seven on quick. He has plenty of speed and we should have a bit of fun with him.
