Down to a mark that he can win off. He's a very hard horse to train and ride in the races as he is very, very keen. Siobhan (Rutledge) does a brilliant job on him at home and keeps the lid on him the whole time. That makes him hard to train because you can never work him which means you are kind of undertraining him the whole time. He has a lot of ability when things fall right for him. The syndicate know him and are very patient with him. Delighted for him and another good ride by Donagh there, he is riding very well. He did (go to the All Weather Championships last year) and he could possibly go again. There is another race for him here next week. We might come back for that, we will see how he is. He was unlucky last year (in Lingfield), he didn't get the clearest of runs and flew home. It was a good day out and they enjoyed it, so we'll see. Delighted for them to get their win today.

Hopefully there is no ceiling! He'll get a few (pounds). Donagh said they went no pace which didn't suit because obviously he has a tendency to be keen. He had no right to win it, but he put his head down. He's very tough and he's really good at a mile. He hits that line so strong at a mile. It is great for a horse that wasn't a lot of money for us and obviously he has turned into a decent horse. Some of the owners are whispering Lincoln in my ear. I tell you where I wouldn't mind looking at - Lingfield on Good Friday to see if there is a race there for him. They go fast around Lingfield. It could be a good play, I could see him wheeling into the straight in Lingfield and powering home. We'll see, he doesn't need to do anything for the rest of his life really. The problem with him on the turf last year was that his head had gone. It took six months to get him back, we spent a lot of time on him. I have to thank Anna O'Gorman who does a lot of work with him and Siobhan (Rutledge) has taken over from that. We'll definitely think about the turf, but he is probably entitled to have a break at some point. I wouldn't rule it out anyway.

We have done a lot of work with him and when he does everything right, in settling and breathing, he has a fair amount of ability. I didn't like hearing the distance! He's going to get hit (by the handicapper). I would like to try him on the turf again. When he ran there before, he wasn't doing things right.

it was key to him both this time and last time (when a runner-up) that he got strong paces to run at. It helps him settle even though he was still in my hands. To be fair to John, the team and all the owners (Malachy Trainor & Eithne McMorrow & Gabriel Byrne & Turnings Syndicate), they have been very patient with him and got him back doing things right, because mid-way through the season he was gone the wrong way on us. Last winter you thought he would be a progressive type, he was doing things really well so fair play to them, they are after getting him back and hopefully he can go on again. He fell down through the weights by not doing things right, he went very, very keen throughout the summer but the engine is there. He's a big strong horse and it is just about doing things right and getting his confidence up.

I'm delighted and he backed it up. I was worried about coming back so quickly but it was a good opportunity and he seems progressive. Hopefully we don't get clobbered too much and we'll be back here in the New Year. Blankiedoodie (third-placed in the race) ran a cracker as well for an old horse, I'm delighted with the two of them.

we thought he'd run well as he had been working well but we were a little bit worried about the trip (a mile). He had shown form at different trips but probably this intermediate trip suits him lovely and the tongue-strap helped him. He's a nice big horse and he's probably only coming to himself. Hopefully we can have a lot more fun with him over the winter. He'll probably be knocked out of the 45-65s now.
