he hadn’t much bottle early on, and we said we’d switch him back over hurdles at Leopardstown and were delighted with the run. Off the back of that we said that we’d go back to a fence with him. It was an ordinary enough race today once Gordon’s horse (Elliott, Kayf Thou) came out of it, and a small field suited him. He’s not simple and hopefully he’ll just get better.

He is a nice progressive horse and has nice battling qualities. He is a nicely bred horse and is from the family of Don Poli,. He has his own way of jumping and young McInerney gave him a lovely ride. There's no doubt his 7lbs claim looked to be the winning of it and it was his first ride for me. This horse has grown an inch, is still only five, and will go chasing this time next year.

the rain made a bit of a difference to him and at Fairyhouse the last day things happened a bit quick for him, and he didn't jump as well. He jumped away well today. I thought the tight track here would be a bit quick for him but they went slower today. He's a well-bred horse and hopefully he'll improve with age. It's taken a while for the penny to drop with him but in fairness he's improved with every run.

Off his mark (118) if he didn't win that we'd be in a spot of bother. He's a good looking horse and hopefully he'll continue to improve,. We're just happy to have got his maiden win out of the way but he'd want to keep improving. I don't think he's a summer type as he has plenty of knee action but we'll see what the plan will be.
