J P McManus and Jody McGarvey completed a Limerick double when Mon Lino (7/4 joint favourite) did the business in the 59 Euro Hospitality Packages At Limerick Racecourse Maiden Hurdle.
Earlier a winner on the Niall Madden-trained Fit To Be Tied here McGarvey was on a horse that seemed to get rather warm in the preliminaries, but Mon Lino still proved well capable of giving of his best in the two and three quarter miler. Dawn Raider the winner's fellow market-leader, was switched to deliver his bid from before two out.
However it was soon apparent that the Paul Nolan-trained Mon Lino was holding all the aces and he ultimately prevailed by six lengths.
McManus also took race two at Navan with Chirico Vallis.
"Off his mark (118) if he didn't win that we'd be in a spot of bother. He's a good looking horse and hopefully he'll continue to improve," said Nolan.
"We're just happy to have got his maiden win out of the way but he'd want to keep improving. I don't think he's a summer type as he has plenty of knee action but we'll see what the plan will be."
C.D. Maxwell, rider of Graineyhill trained by John G. Carr, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stopped quickly after three hurdles.
