He's had a couple of issues over the last year-and-a-half. As you can see we didn't run him for a long time,. I thought we ran him a bit too early here last time after he had won in Limerick so we gave him a month off this time. We're doing a lot of flat work with him as he has an issue with his back. I told Mark to be there or thereabouts, to stay out on the better ground and up with the pace. He has a bit of toe, the old horse. He looks clumsy but he has a bit of toe. It'll be a month at least before he runs again. I have him entered on Thursday but he won't run. It was a choice between today or Thursday and I'm delighted it was today.

Gavin (Brouder) was booked to ride but had an earlier fall so it was only by chance that Cian rode him and he was unbelievable and took great instruction. I told him to be up with the pace but to keep a hold of him. He is a class act and is a very good rider. We had a lot of trouble with him (Fill The Tank) in the last 12 months but did a lot of flat work and he is only really enjoying himself now. He has had lots of problems with his back. I had loads of people looking at him after he won his point-to-point first-time out but he had a wind problem and that's why he wasn't sold.

The ground was the key. When he ran in Tipperary last time they were calling it yielding but they over watered it,. We had another horse that was favourite that day, and we were expecting her to run well, but she pulled up distressed. For the size of him you'd think he would like heavy ground but he seems to perform on this kind of ground. He is what is he. He'll go back over fences next time. Once we get him going and get him fit we don't do too much at home after that.

He won his point-to-point and didn’t progress from it at the time so he’s well overdue his win. I only have a few as a permit holder but all the horses in the yard seem to be coming right at the moment. He’s a big horse and we thought soft ground would suit him but he travels away on that. He was second to John Ryan’s mare (Fairyhill Run) at Limerick and was better off by 10lb at the weights today.
