Small fields suit him. I spotted this race last week but then the rain came. If it was on the outside track I wouldn't have ran him. It can get very dry on the inside and they were only running on water that was splashing today. He had a fall here (October of last year) and chipped a bone off his hock and it took a long time to get him right.

He is a dream to train. He is so versatile and his last three runs having now come on the flat, over hurdles and over fences. I said to the owners (Mrs Miriam Murphy) earlier that they are so lucky to have him. Obviously Notable Graduate didn't travel and hopefully the handicapper won't put him up thirty pounds after that!. He loves quick ground and a good gallop and he might go to Royal Ascot now for the staying handicap over two and a half miles (The Ascot Stakes). They just hack in that race and then sprint. I ran Dorans Pride in it before and Jamie Spencer rode him. He should have won it but got knocked and locked in at different stages. He ran three days later and finished third in a conditions race there.

He'll go for the Powers Gold Cup (at Fairyhouse) - that's the plan according to the weather,. Ruby thought the ground might even have gone for him as he likes it quick.

He is a very nice horse. He probably wants a bit better ground, but he had been schooling so well at home we said we would take our chance. He will probably make a very nice chaser.

False Economy is a nice horse and hops off the summer ground. He may go to Killarney on the Sunday for a the good handicap hurdle. Hopefully he'll be good enough for a Galway Hurdle some day.

I was slightly disappointed with his run at Clonmel the last day but I'd say he didn't handle the track . he likes that ground, will mix it between Flat and jumps now and the Amateur Riders' Handicap (formerly the GPT Handicap) at Galway is a possibility.

He'll probably make a Summer horse. He had some very nice runs during the Winter. I thought he'd win a bumper but he got hurt in Thurles one day, John Thomas [McNamara] said he went from travelling well to just stopping but he has repaid us today. He might run in a flat race in Clonmel next week, he didn't get a very hard race this evening.
