He's eleven, he's extremely happy; he's poetry in motion and we love him very much. We were very concerned and I had sleepless nights about whether I'd run him on that ground because he wants give in it. He had an accident nearly two years ago, he chipped a bone in his near fore and the chip is still in there. Every time we run him is a bonus, and to think not alone a bonus but we get a winner. He's a star. He controls the yard, he has his own box and nobody is allowed to get past unless they go and see him first. At least that's the way I think about it. We nearly had a double (Wayne R Walker was runner-up in the preceding race, the apprentice handicap) but it'll come one day.

he's such a gentleman at home and he's such brilliant athlete when he comes to the races. I asked him (Redmond) not to go for him suddenly and to step up the pace once he saw the straight and to slowly step up the pace. He did and he was basically increasing his pace right up until the death. The jockey did as he was asked. I bred him myself and Handsome Maverick is his half-brother, who was very unlucky in the last race (when a close third), so we almost had a double. There is a six (furlongs race) in Cork for this lad on October 3rd and he'll definitely go for that.

We went in and then came out a bit but I thought he kept him fairly straight,. We've run him four times in the last few weeks which seems an awful lot. I used to look after this horse and run him every four weeks. He's turned out very nicely and we're very happy the way he fought back today. Obviously six furlongs around here is a trip he likes. I know he's not young but maybe he'll be back next year. The young lad gave him a lovely ride. I asked him not to go for him quick but to start it up slowly and to be fair he did. He did a nice job.

he's been difficult enough with problems with his stomach but we think we have that sorted and he's going the way I want. I was surprised the price he was after the way he won in the Curragh last time. Niall McCullagh said there wasn't much he could do with him as he was running away and hopefully now we'll get into the Bold Lad Handicap at the Curragh (on Champions Weekend in September) with him, that's the target.

The times are fast but he (Niall) tells me the sting has gone out of the ground. He’s by Jeremy and has been caught out a few times on fast ground. It’s always nice to get a winner on the Curragh, and we’ll try to get him a bit higher in the handicap and get into one of those good races on Irish Champions Weekend.

he's done what we've asked him to do - in Roscommon he didn't see out the seven from a bad draw. He had a decent draw today, tucked in and did the stuff - you can't ask anymore than to win. He'll probably go to Listowel now.

he's a nice horse and we'll go again with him fairly soon. He's named after a well-known dance teacher from Belfast in the 1960's.
