After jumping the seventh fence, Mister Allegro (GB), placed eighth, drifted left-handed, momentarily placing Gouet Des Bruyeres (FR), unplaced, awkwardly on the heels of Ben Buie (IRE), placed third, resulting in its rider having to ease his mount right-handed for clear running.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mister Allegro (GB).
Toby Wynne, the rider of Gouet Des Bruyeres (FR), unplaced, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above shoulder height from after the second last fence.
Being a 7lb claimer, Wynne was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that Gouet Des Bruyeres (FR), unplaced, lost its left hind shoe; PITTISBURG (IRE), placed sixth, lost its right hind shoe and White Turf (IRE), placed fourth, lost its left fore and left hind shoes.
