She was in the wilderness for 12 months. She was favourite for the mares’ novice, got injured and then we lost her, but he’s a genius. She spent some time off in a field and came in a different horse and then it’s been onwards and upwards. We’ve had a winner here before with Junior in the Kim Muir but this is our first Grade One over jumps, never mind here, and she only cost £35,000. This is fantastic because we lost her last year, a bit like Epatante, she went walkabout — it’s lovely when they come back. I was very impressed with her when she won at Warwick last time out so I was hopeful, but I knew it would be very competitive. Winning the first race takes the pressure off, we can enjoy it all now. Telmesomethinggirl (IRE) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start and permission was given for Marie's Rock (IRE) to wear a red hood to post, for Mrs Milner (IRE) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring and for Nada To Prada (GB) to go early to post.

The Stewards noted that jumping the second to last hurdle, Burning Victory (FR), unplaced, and Nada To Prada (GB), placed eighth, were both hampered by the fall of Indefatigable (IRE).

Sean O’Keeffe, the rider of Burning Victory (FR), reported that thereafter the filly stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities other than it had lost its left fore shoe.

After the final hurdle, Queens Brook (IRE), placed second, quickly shifted right-handed away from the whip carrying the winner, MARIE’S ROCK (IRE), off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
