The winner, Concetto (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 28 December 2022, on ground described as Heavy, where the gelding finished last of thirteen runners, beaten 63 1/2 lengths.
Oliver Greenhall explained that the gelding was better suited by the ground, described as Good today.
His explanation was noted and Concetto (FR), was routine tested.
The performance of Doyens De Ante (IRE), which started favourite and was placed sixth, was considered.
Max Young could offer no explanation for the gelding’s poor performance other than the report made by the jockey that the gelding had made a bad mistake and never travelled thereafter.
