Permission was given for Existent (GB) to be mounted in the chute; for Apeeling (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
The winner, Manila Scouse (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on the 27 July 2024, where the gelding finished twelfth of fourteen runners beaten 12½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Tim Easterby could offer no explanation for Manila Scouse (GB)'s improved form other than the gelding may have appreciated a return to Chepstow.
The performance of Apeeling (GB), which started joint favourite and finished seventh of eight runners beaten 7¾ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Andrew Balding's explanation that the filly was unsuited by the undulations here at Chepstow and was also unsuited by the Good to Soft, Good in places ground which was changed to Good to Soft, Soft in places immediately after the race and would prefer a sounder surface was noted.
