An enquiry was held to consider interference turning in on the final bend, involving Gosmore (GB), unplaced, ridden by John Egan, Pysanka (FR), unplaced, ridden by Billy Loughnane, Curtiz (GB), placed third, ridden by David Probert and Louisiana Bay (IRE), placed second, ridden by Hollie Doyle.
The interference was found to be accidental as a weakening Gosmore (GB) was holding its position on the rail, making contact with Pysanka (FR) which caused Gosmore (GB) to become slightly unbalanced and edge right-handed at the same time as Curtiz (GB) edged marginally left—handed, at the point of the bend, causing both Louisiana Bay (IRE) and Pysanka (FR) to be tightened for racing room.
The winner, Capstan (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Lingfield Park on 06 December 2023 where the gelding finished seventh out of eight runners, beaten by a distance of 9 ½ lengths.
It was noted that Lydia Richards could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Capstan (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Curtiz (GB), placed third, lost its right-fore shoe and Savoy Brown (GB), unplaced, lost its right-hind shoe.
