The Veterinary Officer reported that upon inspection, Furius De Ciergues (FR) was grey and not bay as published in the racecard.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Eurkash (FR), ridden by Jamie Moore and trained by Paul Webber, which was held up at the back of the field, before being asked for a hands and heels effort in the home straight to finish fourth, beaten by 25 lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated his instructions were to drop Eurkash (FR) in and take his time as the gelding had been racing too keenly in its previous races and not getting home.
He added that Eurkash (FR) had hung badly left-handed from leaving the back straight, a fact the rider had reported at Scales, and in his opinion had obtained the best possible placing when staying on past tiring horses in the home straight.
The trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that he was satisfied the ride accorded with those instructions.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, Liam Treadwell reported that The City Cobbler (GB), unplaced, ran too freely and ran greenly.
