The performance of JENNIES GEM, which finished unplaced, was considered. Ben Robinson reported that the gelding was never travelling and Ollie Pears could offer no further explanation, except that JENNIES GEM is an inconsistent type. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The winner, CANDESTA (USA), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Chelmsford on 29 October 2018, where the gelding finished ninth of nine, beaten 117 lengths. Julia Feilden explained that CANDESTA (USA) appears to run well at Southwell and benefitted from the wide draw on this occasion. The gelding was routine tested.
