Permission was given for Global Humor (USA) to go early to post and for The Gay Blade (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out when the dead heat winner, Stormy Pearl (GB), ridden by Rhys Elliott interfered with Empress Of Bough (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Oisin Orr which in turn interfered with the dead heat winner, The Gay Blade (GB), ridden by Andrew Mullen.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Elliott was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The Stewards also considered whether there was any interference between Stormy Pearl (GB) and The Gay Blade (GB) on the run to the line following the interference 1 ½ furlongs out.
The Stewards considered that the interference 1 ½ furlongs out had not improved Stormy Pearl (GB)’s placing as The Gay Blade (GB) was already showing a tendency to lug right when receiving a very minor bump as indirect interference when Empress Of Bough (IRE) was moved off its intended line when interfered with by Stormy Pearl (GB).
The Stewards considered that as this incident happened approximately 1 ½ furlongs out, The Gay Blade (GB) had sufficient time and distance to recover from this very minor incident of interference.
When considering whether there had been interference between Stormy Pearl (GB) and The Gay Blade (GB) from 1 ½ furlongs out, the Stewards found that although Stormy Pearl (GB) had edged very marginally right, there had been no significant interference between the dead-heaters.
Elliott was cautioned for careless riding in the incident 1 ½ furlongs out as he had taken insufficient steps to prevent his horse from drifting right causing Empress Of Bough (IRE) to be moved marginally off its intended line which in turn slightly bumped The Gay Blade (GB).
