Permission was given for Rondo (USA) to be mounted in the chute and for Sword Exceed (GER) to go early to post.
Harbour Vision (GB), was kicked by another runner at the start.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Rondo (USA), trained by Charles Hills, ran without its declared tongue strap as the colt bit its tongue on the way to the start.
The representative of Charles Hills reported that, in their opinion, it subsequently affected Rondo (USA)’s performance.
Inside the final furlong, Broughtons Flare (IRE), placed fourth, shifted left-handed before being corrected by its rider causing the rider of Rondo (USA), unplaced, to have to take a check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Broughtons Flare (IRE).
