The Stewards interviewed C.P. McNamara, rider of My Friend The Wind, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, C.P. McNamara stated that he believed that he had used his whip within the guidelines for frequency but admitted that he had miscalculated his use during his riding of the finish. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.P. McNamara was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended C.P. McNamara for two racedays
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined King Ferdinand, trained by Eugene M
O'Sullivan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards rated 0-109
