An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Triple Nickle (IRE), ridden by Jordan Williams and trained by Bernard Llewellyn which raced detached from the rear of the field, before been asked for an effort after turning into the home straight, running on past horses up the length of the straight under tender handling, finishing sixth of eleven, beaten by 18 ½ lengths.

Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Williams was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.

The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Triple Nickle (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated that his instructions were to drop the filly in and get Triple Nickle (IRE) jumping, as she had unseated the jockey last time out on her first run over hurdles.

He added that the filly had jumped and travelled well but had hung slightly left under pressure, although he continued that this was not performance affecting.

The trainer’s representative stated that he was happy with the ride and that it accorded with the instructions given.

He further stated that in his opinion, Triple Nickle (IRE) could in hindsight have been positioned closer through the early to mid stages of the contest, but he was satisfied with the ride overall.

Williams was suspended for 16 days and Llewellyn was fined £3,500 for schooling and conditioning the filly on the racecourse in that the gelding had not been asked for timely, real or substantial effort on its second run over hurdles.

Triple Nickle (IRE) was suspended from running in any race for 40 days.

Following the race, Connor Brace reported that Gats And Co (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed up the straight.
