Yeats won on his seasonal debut for the fourth time in five years, but only just. He looked in a spot of trouble early in the straight as first Red Moloney and then Alfie Flits loomed up, but Yeats had too much class and ran on well inside the final furlong for a workmanlike victory.
The Ascot Gold Cup is the main plan again and he is likely to have another outing in order to reach his peak for that contest.
Red Moloney ran well, but having hit the front with under a quarter of a mile to run did not quite see out the trip on this stiff track.
Both Alfie Flits and Nick's Nikita performed well and should be competitive at this level as the season progresses.
