The Stewards interviewed N.P. Madden, rider of Patricks Boy, concerning his use of the whip after the turn into the straight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that N.P. Madden was in breach of R10(3)(b) by the unnecessary use of the whip after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. The Stewards cautioned N.P. Madden having taken his clean previous record into consideration.
