Sue Smith could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than it may have been unsuited by the very testing Heavy going on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of VALENCE D’AUMONT (FR) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Leighton Aspell reported that he felt it prudent to pull up Fionn Mac Cul (IRE) approaching the third last fence, as he considered that the gelding had gone amiss; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Fionn Mac Cul (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities, other than he had lost his left-fore shoe.
