Permission was given for King Viktor (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

Entering the first bend, Swinging London (IRE), unplaced, lugged left-handed bumping Simiyann (IRE), placed fifth, which in turn bumped Educator (GB), unplaced, which was carried onto Animato (GB), unplaced, which became tight for room on the rail.

After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Sean Kirrane, the rider of Educator (GB), unplaced, was asked to explain his riding passing 1½ furlongs out, where he appeared to become less vigorous over a number of strides for no apparent reason.

Kirrane explained that he had been instructed to produce the gelding between horses when making his challenge in the home straight and he had angled his mount wider off the home bend in order to enable him to carry out those instructions.

He added that inside 2 furlongs out Simiyann on his outside had started to edge left-handed which moved Educator (GB) off his intended line.

This left Kirrane worried that he was at risk of becoming isolated away from the main division of runners and he was therefore considering his options, however after realising he would have to surrender too much ground in order to switch right-handed around Simiyann and revert to coming between runners, he accepted his positioning and rode his mount out hands and heels to the end of the race.

Following the race, Clifford Lee reported that Simiyann (IRE), placed fifth, hung right-handed on the bends.
