Permission was given for JACOB’S PILLOW to go early to post.
Kevin Stott, the rider of the winner, Mr Shelby (IRE) was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level inside the final furlong.
The winner, Mr Shelby (RE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Ayr on 7 July 2019 where the gelding finished eleventh of fifteen, beaten 6¾ lengths.
Shane Donohoe’s explanation that the gelding benefited from being ridden by a professional was noted.
The performance of JACOB’S PILLOW, which finished fifth, was considered.
Rebecca Bastiman could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than it stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Jamie Gormley reported that Indiaro (GB), placed eighth, hung left-handed throughout.
