Thedancingman (GB) wore earplugs throughout.
The winner Darksideoftarnside (IRE, appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run over hurdles at Southwell on 30 July where the gelding finished fifth of ten runners, beaten by 35 lengths.
Neil Mulholland explained that Darksideoftarnside (IRE) had benefited from a more patient ride on this occasion and further appreciated a drop in class.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider whether Mr William Potter, the rider of Mrs Trout (GB), unplaced and beaten by 89 lengths, had continued in the race when the horse appeared to be exhausted.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer stated the mare had finished tired and had a prolonged recovery due to the ground conditions, but in his opinion, was not exhausted and had fully recovered upon second examination.
The rider’s explanation that although she had slowed markedly, he felt that Mrs Trout (GB) was fine to jump the last hurdle, which she did successfully, was noted.
Following the race, Tabitha Worsley reported that Tara Well (IRE), placed eighth, hung left-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Desert De Bruyere (FR), which was pulled up, lost its right-fore shoe.
