Permission was given for Close Of Play (GB) to go early to post and for Bluebells Boy (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Pink Stripes (GB), unplaced, jumped right-handed at the same time as Kangaroo (IRE), placed fifth, jumped left-handed resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced after they bumped heavily, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, a free running Colors Of Freedom (GB), unplaced, shifted left- handed after improving onto the heels of the winner, Next Second (GB), which had been steadied by its rider to take a lead, and resulted in Under Curfew (GB), placed fourth, being tightened for room against the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference just inside the final furlong, involving Bluebells Boy (GB), placed third, ridden by Kevin Stott, Colors Of Freedom (GB), unplaced, ridden by Charles Bishop and Under Curfew (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Molly Gunn.
Being a 7lb claimer, Gunn was accompanied by a senior rider.
Gunn was suspended for 3 days for careless riding, as after initially being influenced slightly left-handed by Bluebells Boy (GB) on her outside, she thereafter had allowed her horse to hang left-handed without sufficient correction, into the path of Colors Of Freedom (GB), causing Bishop to be checked in his run.
