Permission was given for Desert Mist (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Tom Mix (GB), placed second, ridden by Tony Hamilton and Arthur Norse (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Ray Dawson.
Hamilton was cautioned for careless riding as he crossed left-handed when insufficiently clear causing the rider of Arthur Norse (IRE) to take a slight check.
Leaving the stalls, Secret To Success (GB), placed seventh, jumped right-handed carrying Ealand (IRE), unplaced, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Secret To Success (GB).
Approaching the ½ furlong marker, Tom Mix (GB), placed second, edged right-handed away from the whip giving a slight bump to Carmela Soprano (GB), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Tom Mix (GB).
Following the race, Ray Dawson reported that the beaten favourite, Arthur Norse (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Adam McNamara reported that Ladyroc (GB), unplaced, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer reported that the filly had lost her left-hind shoe.
