Permission was given for Sparkling Red (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Approaching the final furlong, Albegone (GB), placed fifth, shifted slightly right-handed at the same time the winner, Le Beau Garcon (GB), shifted slightly left-handed causing Sparkling Red (IRE) unplaced, to be crowded for room, resulting in its rider having to take a brief check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and had not improved the placing of any runner.
Following the race, Andrew Breslin reported that Jamie Bond (GB), unplaced, was fractious in the stalls and slow away.
