Permission was given for Special Acceptance (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Having jumped the second-last fence, the winner, Milan Bridge (IRE), which had been hanging left- handed, shifted left-handed despite its riders best efforts to correct the gelding, resulting in a weakening Henschke (IRE), placed third, becoming short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Milan Bridge (IRE).
The winner, Milan Bridge (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 20 November 2023 where the gelding finished seventh of seven, beaten by 30¼ lengths.
Sarah Humphrey explained that Milan Bridge (IRE) appeared to benefit from racing left-handed having raced right-handed on its two previous runs, and had further benefitted from the going, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Good in places on this occasion, but in her opinion was riding quicker than described.
Her explanation was noted and Milan Bridge (IRE) was routine tested.
