McMonagle, placed first, Hoover Dam, ridden by J. Kearney, placed third, and Spunog, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed sixth, where it appeared Spunog had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D
McMonagle stated that he felt he was clear when his mount drifted across to the rail. J. Kearney stated that his mount was drifting across because he was having a look at the horse on his outside. R.P. Cleary stated that he was getting carried across all the way and had to check off the horses on his inside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found J. Kearney was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays
