An enquiry was held into the faulty action of stall 4 in this race resulting in it being slow to open.
Adam Kirby, the rider of the winner Scofflaw (GB), drawn in stall 4, the Starters and the Clerk of the Course were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Kirby stated that the gelding had anticipated the start, and thought that this could have tightened the gates causing his stall to open fractionally slow, but he was unaware of it being slow to open.
The Starters confirmed that checks had been performed prior to each of the races up to and including this one and had had no concerns.
The Clerk of the Course reported that the stalls are serviced regularly and confirmed that they had been thoroughly checked before racing today.
Being satisfied that the correct procedures had been followed, the Stewards noted their explanations.
