An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 3 furlongs out, when the winner IATO’S ANGEL (IRE), ridden by Andrew Mullen, interfered with King Me (GB), unplaced, ridden by Billy Garritty.
The interference was found to be accidental as IATO’S ANGEL (IRE) had lugged quickly left giving a bump to the weakening King Me (GB).
Approaching 2 furlongs out, the winner IATO’S ANGEL (IRE), hung left moving Hills Of Gold (GB), placed third, off its intended line.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of IATO’S ANGEL (IRE).
The performance of King Me (GB), which started second favourite but finished unplaced beaten 36¼ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Charlie Johnston could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that United Force (IRE), placed fifth, was never travelling.
