< Drunken Sailor held on grimly to fend off Rajik in the feature event on day five of the Galway Festival.
Paul Flynn's gelding took a couple of lengths out of his rivals when going on early in the straight in the Arthur's Day Handicap but Rajik, who had one behind him turning in, sprouted wings and failed by only a neck to overhaul the 9-2 joint-favourite.
Galway Hurdle hero Bahrain Storm (3-1) proved he has toughness in abundance when, just over 24 hours after his big success, he turned out on the level and called upon all his resolution to see off Bashkirov in the Guinness Race.< Viceroy Of India (4-1) gave Aidan O'Brien his second winner of the meeting when rallying gamely for Johnny Murtagh to see off odds-on favourite Sublime Talent in the Galway Publican's EBF Maiden.
Billy Lee set sail for home a fair way out in the Guinness 17:59 EBF Auction Maiden but the move paid off on Dan Noir The 20-1 chance had shown little in two runs but kicked to the front approaching the home turn and held the late challenge of Lyle Lady by half a length.
The Guinness Handicap Chase was the pick of the jumping action and this decent prize fell to the Muredach Kelly-trained veteran Kahuna
The 12-year-old had won twice at this venue previously and did it the hard way under Andrew Thornton. The front-running 7-1 shot saw off long-time pursuer Knight Legend with a couple of slick leaps over the last two obstacles and he was always holding the staying-on Sanglote crossing the line with nine lengths in hand.< Back Me Up (11-1) was originally only a second reserve for the Guinness (QR) Handicap Hurdle but she got a run and Padraig Roche steered her to victory for his father Christy, while the Arthur Guinness Handicap went the way of Few Are Chosen (8-1).
