Mick Channon registered his second Group Three triumph of the day when Divine came out on top in the TRM Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh.
Channon, who landed the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom with Epsom Icon earlier in the afternoon, sent Divine across the Irish Sea on the back of an ordinary sixth in a Nottingham Listed event.
That may have contributed to her 12-1 starting price but she stepped forwardly considerably, slipping through a gap next to the front-running Only Mine over a furlong out and stretching three and a half lengths clear of Fort Del Oro < Portage made a successful reappearance in the TRI Equestrian Silver Stakes.
The 7-4 market leader hadn't been sighted since finishing fifth in last year's Cambridgeshire at Newmarket but travelled sweetly in third before showing a smart change of gear to seal matters, and he scored by a length from Chemical Charge who showed much promise on his return from the sidelines.
Experience just told in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden as Grand Coalition held the late lunge of newcomer Intelligence Cross
Third in a good race here on debut and with the benefit of the rail to race against, the 7-2 shot was always to the fore in the hands of Connor King and stuck his neck out to score by a head.
His trainer Johnny Murtagh looked like following up when Newsman shot clear halfway down the straight in the www.trm-ireland.com Handicap, but he was undone by Qatari Hunter (8-1) sweeping down the outside for Jim Bolger and Rory Cleary.
Gary Carroll timed his challenge perfectly on 2-1 favourite Camellia Japonica in the TRM Excellence In Equine Nutrition Maiden, coming with a wet sail to collar Flowerhill Nova in the shadows of the post.< Your Pal Tal (8-1) broke his turf duck in the TRM Supporting Global Champions Handicap, with Ronan Whelan supplementing his gains on Divine, and the jockey went on to complete a treble on the Bolger-trained Stellar Mass (4-1) in the TRM Invest In Calphormin Maiden.
