Trainer Paul Flynn has high hopes but revised plans for Cheers Again (5/6f) who today defied a 16lb hike from the handicapper to complete consecutive wins, in Dundalk's Irishinjuredjockeys.com Apprentice Handicap.
Rory Cleary did the steering when Cheers Again landed a gamble at the track on December 14 and today nephew Jack Cleary partnered John Eastwood's gelding to another easy, four lengths win from Reverberation
Cheers Again was rated 47 when winning in December and 63 today, with Flynn saying “he won again, but I was hoping to stay below 70!”
“I had a plan in mind but I'll have to change it now and he won't run again until the turf. He was going to go to Leopardstown, as I think he'll love it there, but he'll have to go for a different race now.
The Coral Cup-winning jockey and Galway Hurdle-winning trainer added “he's a big horse and he'll improve again - he could be a good horse.”
