Ortiga made all as she came home a comfortable winner of the opener at Naas, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
Having her sixth career start the Eddie Lynam trained daughter of Dark Angel proved friendless with punters.
She opened at 6/1 last night before going from 8/1 to 9/1 on-course.
Having lead from the stalls she was ridden under two furlongs out and she quickly extended her advantage, keeping on well inside the final furlong to win by three and three parts of a length under Gary Carroll. Catalyst was sent off the well-backed 13/8 favourite (from 15/8 on-course) and she had to settle for second under Fran Berry for Paddy Twomey.
Newcomer Jolyne (7/1) kept on well in the closing stages to take third under Andrea Atzeni for Johnny Murtagh.
Eddie Lynam said afterwards: "It's taken a while to get her act together, and it's nice to get the win.
"She seems to be improving and enjoyed the turf. She's out of a black-type mare and the handicapper will probably crease her!"
