Universal Focus recorded his fifth career win when just getting the better of a thrilling finish to division two of the 45-65 rated mile and a half handicap at Cork.
The well-supported 3/1 joint favourite was continuing a good week for dual purpose trainer Ross O’Sullivan whose form figures in the past 48 hours read 12131.
Billy Lee had the seven-year-old up with the pace throughout alongside Auma and the pair fought out a tremendous tussle in the final furlong.
Universal Focus got the verdict on the nod by a head, while Miss Louise made up plenty of ground in the closing stages to be just a further head away in third.
O’Sullivan was on the mark with Benefit Run over fences at Sligo on Monday, while Longbourn won a Flat maiden yesterday at Tipperary.
