One For Bobby was the least experienced horse in the @gowranpark1 On Twitter Fillies Race but she marked herself out as a filly of considerable promise by beating Show Of Stars
Johnny Murtagh 's Frankel filly won a fillies' maiden over a mile at this track earlier in the month and stepped up to an extended nine furlongs for this contest.
She raced in fourth of the five runners as Lady Anner cut out the running from Show Of Stars and Suwaiyra.
Lady Anner was hard at work to hold her position turning for home and was picked off over two furlongs out by Show Of Stars with One For Bobby taking closer order in behind.
One For Bobby came down the centre of the track to claim Show Of Stars racing to the final furlong. Show Of Stars rallied in the closing stages but One For Bobby was ridden by Ben Coen to surge on close home.
She won by a length and a quarter to justify 7/4 favouritism. In winning she took the scalp of 99-rated Show Of Stars (2/1).
This gave Murtagh and Coen a double on the card.
The trainer said: “It was a very nice performance.
“Ben said it was a little bit tactical, they went steady enough and it was a bit of a sprint up the straight.
“It was a nice race for her, she learned plenty the first day but it would have been a bit unfair to go straight into stakes company from that.
“Hopefully now she'll be able to step up again. I think 10 (furlongs) is a good trip for her and she's exciting.
“I won't rush her as she's after doing plenty in the last couple of weeks. There is nothing until Derby day so maybe from then on we'll look for a Stakes race.”
